Just for an exercise, assume the correlation coefficient is .99. Does this imply a causal relationship?

Correlation does not imply the causal relationship

Causation gives relation between cause and effect. But correlation gives the connection or a mutual relationship between two variables, which doesn’t means that one causes the other.

Hence even though r=0.99, it doesn't imply a causal relationship
