Staff motivation is one of the important aspects in business management. Companies understand the need of it which is directly related to higher retention, workplace environment and overall productivity of the organization. According to Adam's equity theory, staff should be given equal outcomes or benefits as per their inputs to the job roles they are assigned to fullfill otherwise demotivation may be involved.
As per the theory of Herzberg , There are two important factors for motivation of employees within organization. These are 1) Hygiene factors 2) Motivators
In hygiene factors , organization should have salary, workplace environment, good policies framework, job security, good relationships and related factors will be considered. In motivators , growth prospect, work recognition, work itself, responsibility etc. will be counted.
An organization can motivate its employees by considering various other motivation related theories like Maslow's hierarchy of needs, Hackman model, Expectancy theory, ERG theory etc. As these theories offer a number of variables on which organizations can work from employees points of view.
