1. The objective of business continuity is to ensure that the
business is up and running even in the case of a disaster or any
natural or unnatural phenomena.
But in the case of disaster recovery, it is to ensure to get the
systems up and running as fast as possible when the disaster
strikes.
So in the case of the business continuity, there is no scope of
shutdown in the systems but in the case of disaster recovery, it
involves occurrence of disaster into the system. Thus business
continuity has a wider scope.
2. No there is no clear line between the business continuity and
disaster recovery, as the motives of both of them could be the same
in some of the cases.
If in the case of business continuity there is still an occurrence
of disaster and shutdown, then, in this case, the disaster recovery
and business continuity will work the same way, as both of them
would be in the job of getting the system up and running.
This is the point where both of them behave the same way.
