How does the lungs typically adapt or adjust to daily deviations from homeostasis?
as particular as possible, thanks
Homeostasis is maintained by the respiratory system in two ways: gas exchange and regulation of blood pH. Gas exchange is performed by the lungs by eliminating carbon dioxide, a waste product given off by cellular respiration. Secondly blood pH involves the release of carbon dioxide from the lungs. Carbon dioxide, which is mildly acidic, is a waste product of the
processing (metabolism) of oxygen and nutrients (which all cells need) and, as such, is constantly produced by cells.
