What is the “proper attitude” for doing sports history, (and history in general) and how is it possible that two different historians may come to different conclusions about a certain historical event?
answer-
Proper attitude for doing sports history, (and history in general) is first to have interest in area or field of study because if a person does not have interest and still conduct research in sports history or in general then they would not show their complete effort to find facts about history.Having interest lead a historian to learning and development.
second Person must have full dedication which help historians to be enthusiastic and single minded about any history event they are studying. for example- if a historian wants to study history sports then they should study only sports studyy and gather all information on that. if a historian want to study Western Civilization then they should be dedicated to study that area of history.
Third only use sources of information about history which are reliable and include facts or validate facts like use own research as primary information. then use scholarly articles, books etc as source of secondary information.
These above attitudes help a historian to conduct study or research on sports history or history in general.
It is possible that two different historians may come to different conclusions about a certain historical event because of two things use of information and sources used . there are many sources of information about a particular event in history which differs to one another so one source may have different findings like dates, person, place etc which affect conclusion.
second is perception and knowledge of historian which can shape the conclusion like one historian may see a sports history event in positive manner or constructive while another may percieve that particular same event in negative or destructive manner.
