As a public relations manager, promoting the new chic waterproof boots of a company in from of the editorial staff of a fashion magazine, I would start by asking the editorial staff to wear the boots first before starting the conversation. I would make sure that I provide each of them with their relevant size and then begin my pitch. I would first highlight the looks of the boots and complement each one individually on how the boots have enhanced their attire. Then I would stitch a story of looks and comfort. I would then talk about how waterproof boots can have a fashion sense and bring the conversation back on them and their enhanced attires with the boot as an accessory. This would this way remain a personalized sales pitch and would concentrate on the audience and the product together.
2. As a commercial real estate agent making a pitch to the top level managers of an accounting firm for a new location of their office, I would begin by asking them a question - What do you expect from an office space? I will note down each response on a white-board and then will begin my slide show featuring the new work-place location. In highlighting the features I would keep coming back to the audience expectations listed on the white-board and keep ticking them one by one as I address each. This would ensure to answer all client expectations and allow them to have a favorable case for the new property. I would briefly touch upon the price where I would place a comparison between the price vs features and highlight how such favorable prices are difficult to grab. This pitch would address all the real estate deal breaking scenarios and allow me to close the deal efficiently.
3. As a video game developer when I am pitching my newest game concept to a small start-up video gaming company, I would start by asking each member of the audience that What is their favourite game and why? I would note them on a white-board. Then I would ask the audience to play this game under a simulation for a span of five minutes. I would then allow them to play on and once they are stuck with the game then I would bring them back to the real world and ask abou their experience. This I would again note in comparison to their earlier expectations and draw a connection. I would then present a futuristic outlook on how low maintenance the game would be and with the versions update the company can have continued revenue stream. This will ensure that the audience has a first hand experience on the game and they are able to connect better with the claims presented during the sales pitch and their expectations are also answered.
