a. The silo perspective requires specialized professionals of all parts of process. It requires working in well-defined structure wherein the members report to project manager. Thus requires more resources as compared to business process perspective.
On the other hand, a business process has unified resources structures, i.e. departmentalized as per roles and not project wise. The members report to the functional head. This requires highly skilled planning and scheduling activities.
b. Advantages of silo perspective is all team members are focused on achieving common goal. There is no clash of priorities and resources are plenty. While, disadvantages of silo perspective are the members work in tandum with each other, this means there cannot be any differences or conflicts. Also, lower efficiency of one member can severly impact the overall productivity of the team.
Advantages of business process is the availability of larger and more diverse workforce. Also, redundancy is possible. Consists of more skilled manpower. On the other hand, it demands more scheduling and prioritizing activities. Priority clashes often happen and if one of the department fails, then entire line of process is affected.
