Answer #1

Adlerian theory elaborates the role of parents in psychological and intellectual development of the child. HIs view was that our childhood relationship with parents determine our life long coping strategies. According to him, children misbehave because their need for belongingness and need to feel significant have not been satisfied by their parents. Therefore, parents should be able to help them feel encouraged, competent and special instead of forcing them to change their undesirable behaviour. Also parents should be able to identify the basis of misbehaving as either one of the following : attention seeking, power struggle, revenge or despair. In order to make parents capable of these, it is a good strategy to give them training before they enter parenthood.
