In my opinion one of the common barriers to effective communication in an organization is the cultural diversity among the employees which lead to the differences in the perspectives, beliefs, values and ethics of work groups or teams. The culturally diversed people differ in opinions, work ethic, behaviours, attitudes etc which might sometimes impact the communication badly.
The cultural diversity can affect my current organization by hampering the smooth communication flow because of the difference in how various non verbal or verbal ways of communicating with each other which is heavily influenced by cultural norms, societal upbringing etc. This the communication which takes place among culturally different people have a greater tendency to misinterpret the information or actions which can further lead to the miscommunication, misunderstandings etc. This way the collaboration and coordination of the team members might get hurt. Thus also resulting in making bad decisions or not being able to meet the project deadlines.
