Global Peace Index (GPI) measures the state peace by using the following criteria :

1. The extent of domestic and international conflict
2. Militarisation
3. Level of societal safety and security

1. Some of the issues between GPI and international media are:
   1. Global Peace Index followed a complex methodology based on well-researched and robust surveys across 121 countries. Since the dissemination of the information happened, too fast there is a potential of understanding issues and the way it was interpreted by media houses across countries.
   2. Other issue could be disconnect between the some media houses of countries and GPI due to lower rank assigned to such countries.

The potential consequences of these could be :

1. Lack of standardization
2. Miscommunication

2. Factors necessary to retain media confidence in the GPI through and public support are:
   1. Sustenance of the GPI as the de-facto standard of benchmarking peacefulness
   2. Collaboration and subsequent updates to the GPI basis inputs and more research to make it more holistic. In which case, participation of the media and public support will be required to make it successful
