Social-emotional discussion:
1. Come up with a behavioral or emotional issue that you are working with the child on
2. Explain how you would approach this issue using a family systems framework
3. What are some challenges you might expect when incorporating such a framework?
I am working with a child who has severe anxiety issues since very young age. The reason has a lot to do with his over all upbringing and the manner in which her parents raised her. They used to lock her in the room when she disobeyed and never talked to her on any kind of personal matters. This made her feel alone, left out and just wanting t run away, I sat with her, tried to get into her shoes and explain her that the world is a great place to live. I tried to get her parents to her, allowed them to talk to one another, understand one another and feel closer than ever. This provided a platform to unite them as a family that felt the pain, miseries and sorrows of the world. This will be time consuming, frustrating at times to make people understand but eventually we will outgrow all these differences to become great people who love one another. That is what really matters in life.
