Many of you have been on a job interview in the past. So, what suggestions would you give your fellow students to nail it and be called for a second one and hopefully get the job?
I have been an applicant as well as an interviewer. Few suggestions apart from the technology related information would be:
1. Get some basic information about the company, follow some latest trend about the industry, the competitors- what good they are doing, create some some concept on what the current company is not doing well ad what suggestions can you give them so that they can perform better.
2. Be bold and truthful, even if you don't have data to substantiate your idea. Remember every innovative idea cannot be proven with concrete data, but still they have lead to a logical solution.
3. Try to be as diplomatic as you can be. It should seem like you are the most compliant kid in the world.
4. If you have some idea about the role you are applying for, show them what value you can add through that role. The value addition should be in the form of getting more revenue for the company. This is what the top management cares about.
5. Don't badmouth the company (it is a two-way sword) rather you can point out a few loose ends and show them how to tie it.
6. Don't try to be too relaxed, aggressive, cool, happy. Maintain a balance.
7. Give equal respect to every member in the panel. Remember they want to know how fit are you to carry out their orders. Definitely they won't prefer somebody who might pose a risk to their career.
8. Check this link. It will help in general too.
