The mentioned requirements, will make producers to mention and disclose the trans fat content on the label of the product. It is well known fact that presence of trans fat negatively affects the health of the heart and the overall health in general. So, disclosures related to the trans fat, will have to possibility to decrease the sales, as the consumer awareness increases. Hence, initially, it is going to negatively affect the sales of food producers.
Now, food producers have to modify
the process or change the technology to reduce the trans fat
content. It will increase the cost of production at the part of the
producers. So, it reduces the profit margin if the price does not
change. Further, US government to identify the trans fat and put it
below a certain level, will also make some of the food producers to
go out of the market if they will be unable to meet the latest
specifications. Hence, it will become a stringent criteria for the
