Is there a difference between service quality and product quality? If so, what are the implications of these differences for a manager of a service business, such as a restaurant or a retail store?
Service quality and product quality are two different aspects, even though they sound similar and are interconnected in many ways. Though it depends on the kind of business that how much they are interconnected. The major difference is that product quality refers to the quality of the products being offered in the market, whereas the service quality refers to the service being provided by the company to its customers. Service quality is more difficult to define than product quality although this share many attributes services have more diverse quality attributes than products. For example, a restaurant customer assesses the quality of the restaurant not only the merits of the food, but also the demeanor of today's employees, the speed of service, the location of the restaurant, the pleasure of the surrounding area, and so on. As far as the implications of these differences for a manager of a service business such as a restaurant or a retail store. a manager of a restaurant or a retail store must place as much attention on the quality of the product (food being served in the case of the restaurant) than the actual delivery of the other service.
