1. As part of this course, you will learn how to write a research paper. You will choose a topic, evaluate academic sources, receive feedback on a first draft, and submit a final product. This week you will write the proposal, which should summarize your proposed research and state the main issues that the paper will address.

Modern technology has increased material wealth, but not happiness.

Introduction:

Nowadays people are looking for real happiness, and how the modern technology made the people to live sophisticatedly, but what about their happiness. Does money can make everyone happy, what about wealthy people who are not happy? State of being happy can be an outcome of who feels joy, pride, interest frequently and other positive emotions defines a happy person as someone who experiences frequent positive emotions, such as joy, interest, and pride, and infrequent emotions such negative emotions, such as sadness, anxiety, and anger still occurs not absent. This research proposal deals with how Modern Technology has increased material wealth but not happiness.

Research Hypothesis:

It is hypothesized that modern technology has increased material wealth but not happiness.

Research Plan:

          I plan to conduct surveys and to utilize World data base of happiness, which has more than one thousand scales as “Measures of happiness”. And to classify modern technology such as Internet, Smartphones, and disruptive technologies how they helped in increased in material wealth rather than happiness. I will include all my friends, and family in the survey at the end of the research rubrics will be developed for quantitative results. And literature survey has to be conducted as the happiness in a qualitative measure. Results of researches conducted on happiness need to be reviewed to help the research and for proper guidance. Such as 2012, Stanford University study which dealt with How happiness and emotional development was affected by technology. And 2015 research conducted at Nanyang Technological University on Facebook user experiences would help us to understand how the modern technology has influenced its user’s happiness. And researches done on smartphone addictions can help us to understand how the smart devices are influencing the happiness.

Research Area:

Modern technologies such as internet, smartphone addictions are main concerns in this research, and how the face to face communications and socialism influences happiness. And Literature reviews and Surveys would help us in understanding how the modern technology is impacting the happiness.

Expected Conclusions:

          It is anticipated that Modern technologies may have increased material wealth, but not for all, and it cannot be said modern technologies took away the happiness from humankind. Its how the users and people utilize the modern technology, we cannot eradicate the modern technologies and new technological inventions, People should find a way to adapt and not to addict to modern technologies.
