What are some of the regular and predictable reasons police officers do not report for duty? Please justify your answer.

The below could be some of the regular and predictable reasons why police officers do not report for duty:

1. Illness: The officer could be sick and would need to visit the doctor or take rest. Also, one of his immediate family members (parents, spouse, children etc)could be sick and he/ she would need to take care of them. This is a common reason as it is quite natural for officers to fall sick given their stressful and demanding nature of job.

2. Bereavement: Any of the officer's family/ friends would have passed away and he/ she would have to attend their funeral. Since death is inevitable, this could be one of the reasons.

3. Special Occasions/ Functions: The officer would have some family functions or other occasions for which he would need to be with his family or travel. In our social life, there are several such events and social interactions, one has to be a part of and the officers too need to attend the same.
