In low earth orbit(LEO), the speed of satellite moving is quite high(8-10 km/s). This is extremely higher compared to normal speeds at earth surface(speed of sound - 344 m/s) . Due to this relative magnitude with radio waves(speed of light), Doppler effect is high.
It is cheaper to "launch" compared to Geo stationary orbits(GSO), because of the change in orbit size.
LEO: 2000 km altitude
GSO: ~36000 km altitude
Less fuel is required to cover less distance.(keep in mind that minimum necessary speed is always required to launch)
