Explanation:

Although encryption helps in securing the backups, there is a lot more than just encrypting data. Encryption is just one step in securing the data, this alone cannot substitute backing data.
For example if physical server is damaged entire data is lost, without regular backup the entire data is lost. Encryption helps the backed up data to be secured.
