While using a portable storage media for transfering the file it is cost effective as it is less costlier than cloud. This doesn't need any subscription and any usage fee. This is secure and hacking cannot be done when not physically stolen. This is not flexible for use and can result to loss of data if lost.

Cloud as a whole has no limits to storing the data and can be accessed from anywhere. It is accessible and flexible. This is costly and needs subcription.

The choice of such a storage would depend on the data, amount of data and internet usage.

Both cloud and physical portable storage media have its advantages and disadvantages. But I think that cloud is more effective as compared to portable storage media because with cloud we can access our data from anywhere by using any device.

In the case of cloud, we are not required to make a separate copy of the data for each computer in the office because each computer can access the data from the cloud instead of storing it locally.

Moreover, if we perform update or any write operations in our data then changes will be reflected in the cloud and accessible to each computer whereas making changes using a portable storage media is very ineffective because in this case we have to make changes to data in each computer
