The following questions relates to manufacturing-casting (Chap 11, 12, &13 and other posted materials) ABC manufacturing has ordered 25 aluminum components, your job as the technologist is to 1) Briefly explain (c.g. how is it made) your chosen casting process for the original order of 15 parts 6) 2) Briefly state your rationale for choosing the process mentioned above 3) Decide on where the parting lie should be, show this on your CAD file 4) Explain reasons for choosing the position of your parting line 5) State draft angle, where is draft required, why is draft required 6) Submit CAD drawings that identifies all parts of the mold (cannot be hand drawn) 7) Provide information on the core (e.g. dimensions, type of core, design, is it required) 8) Calculate the cooling rate for the part, you must state any assumptions made 9) Determine a practical riser size based on the assumptions made in the text or other references 10) Clearly identify possible hot spots, casting issues and where secondary machining is required 11) Possible casting/part design improvements (at least 3 should be mentioned, secondary processes etc.) (6) 12) Suggest and briefly explain a casting process that would be a suitable for 5,000 parts 3) Rationale for the choices mentioned above, include detailed cconomic analysis for each option. 14) (22) (12) -20 CALF 2 Assignment 2 due date is April 1 no later than 4:00pm
