A pump assembly plant assembles two types of pumps: a jet-pump and a hydro-pump. Both pump types must pass through a painting plant and an assembly plant. If the painting plant only paints jet-pumps, it can paint 2000 jet-pumps each day, whereas if it paints only hydro-pumps, it can paint 1500 hydro-pumps per day. Moreover, if the assembly plant only assembles either jet-pumps or hydro-pumps, it can assemble 2200 pumps per day. Each jet-pump brings a net profit of $3000 whereas each hydro-pump brings a net profit of $2100.

a) Provide the mathematical formulation for the LP problem if the plant’s goal is to maximize its net profit.
b) Provide the standard form of the LP problem.

Hint: Define your decision variables with their proper units first. Also check and show the units of the left and right hand sides of all constraints and the objective function

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
