5. Essay on Quantum Mechanics (40 pts)
In this problem, you will need to write down your short essay on
quantum
mechanics. You’re NOT allowed to discuss this problem with your
classmates or instructor:
therefore, your answer here should be unique, and be NOT even
similar to that of others. Just
think by yourself and freely state what you learned and how you
feel about quantum mechanics
now. You may want to include the following specific topics in your
essay.
- How has your level of understanding of quantum mechanics changed
throughout the course?
- What key elements of quantum mechanics you think you learned and
understood?
- How will you relate this quantum mechanics knowledge to your
future career (research, job
search, etc.) or real life?
Quantum Mechanics is the foundation of the nanotechnology. We are the living in the era that demands high computing power from single chip and so reducing device dimension is the only way to accomplish this demand of ever increasing computing need. As the device dimension reduces classical theories of current conduction start to fail and incorporation of quantum mechanics to model device current conduction behavior becomes a necessity. Apart from this quantum mechanics is also useful for measuring heat current and spin current of nano devices.
The difference between classical mechanics and quantum mechanics
lies in taking into account the effect of matter wave associated
with particle. When a classical particle faces a barrier it just
stops, but quantum mechanics says the particle has finite
probability of crossing the barrier and the probability of crossing
the barrier depends upon the momentum of the particle and width of
the barrier. We learned shrodinger euation and calculated wave
vector for 1d,2d,3d
infinite potential box and finite potential box.
I would like to implement this quantum mechanics knowledge for investigating spin current in single electron transistor and heat current in nano heat sinks.

What is the primary goal of management? What are the primary tasks of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and others in the finance function of an organization? How do you think that you might use the knowledge learned in this course in your career or personal life? 1. When you make your initial post, please fully answer the question and make substantive responses - i.e. at least 400 words that really dive into the topic and show that you've read...
For the applied assignment, please submit a 5-6 slide PPT (NOT including title page and references page) that includes the following parts: PART 1: Create a context: Introduce a real-world business situation or an imagined business scenario that may benefit from the "math" presented in the prior two weeks (Weeks 1 and 2 - see the objective stated in bold above). While creating the context, ask yourself: What business use cases may benefit from the quantitative methods offered last week...
Write a reflective paper describing your leadership style and skills. Reflect on what you have learned throughout the course, and think about how you can use this knowledge to further your career. Use the results of your self-assessments, leadership map, and other course materials to guide your reflection. Begin your reflection with a single statement that concisely summarizes your leadership style and approach. The statement should be one that you could later share on LinkedIn or your resume. You could...
Write a 1,500 word case study describing how you might advise and help Uber. The issues need to be addressed on multiple levels including operational, technology, employee engagement, leadership, morale and commitment – and put into the larger context of a slow growth global economy, increased competition, and possibly additional local government disagreements involving taxi and labor factions. Specifically, what are the major areas of concern you have about the current situation at Uber in terms of the challenges in...
Study Skills Activity 5: Taking Tests – Page 323 This activity is designed to help you discover the most effective way for you to deepen your learning, in college and beyond, and improve your grades. To complete each activity, choose one new strategy from the reading for your experiment, track your choices for a week, and then report and reflect on your results through the questions provided. Fifth up: Taking Tests. There are 28 strategies for test taking. Identify the...
Introduction - Problem-Solving Although everyone is confronted with problems, because leaders are connected to a larger system, problem solving can often have higher stakes for a group or organization. So, the ability to effectively solve problems is paramount for leaders. Effective problem solving has the opportunity to prevent damage, achieve a successful and productive outcome, refrain from negatively affecting others and in some cases positively affect others, and prevent a problem from reoccurring. Vignette Wendy is a part of the...
Choose one of the learning experiences below and write a 250-word essay response. 1. Take your blood pressure and the blood pressure of someone else. List both the systole and diastole. Define systole, diastole, and list the ranges of excellent, good, fair, and poor. Do you see any correlations between blood pressure and lifestyle, stress level, or activity level? How will you incorporate knowledge of blood pressure into your future training endeavors? 2. Have a graded exercise test (GXT) performed...
Your problem will have exactly two variables (an X1 and an X2) and will incorporate a maximization (either profit or revenue) objective. You will include at least four constraints (not including the X1 ≥ 0 and X2 ≥ 0 [i.e., the “Non-negativity” or “Duh!”] constraints). At least one of these four must be a “≤” constraint, and at least one other must be a “≥” constraint; do not include any “= only” constraints. You must have a unique Optimal Solution...
Read Case #1 entitled "Understanding Your Employee Benefits: Qualifying for Unemployment Benefits" on pages 214-215 of your text and answer these 3 case questions. Are you eligible to receive unemployment if you resign? Explain your answer. Should you resign or wait to find out if and when you are laid off? Elaborate. Explain the criteria to qualify for unemployment benefits and relate the criteria to this case study. 150 words During the three years that you have worked at your...
Section III of this assignment asks you to explain how finding the answer to your question might impact others around you. For instance, who might be most invested in the answer? Using your Asking Questions Chart, complete a short draft of Section III of your Project 3 submission for instructor feedback. This should be a short paragraph of three to four sentences. You may write your submission directly into the “Write Submission” textbox below. This activity is provided as a...
