The molecule has a chloromethyl group that reacts with thiol groups on proteins of the outer and inner mitochondrial membranes, resulting in the covalent attachment of CMXRos to said proteins, CMXRos is also capable of fluorescence. Its excitation and emission spectra are presented in Figure 8.3 below, rough the plasma membrane of a Excitation spec 57 nm CH,CI Figure 8.2. Answer #1

The excitation spectrum of CMXROS has the maximum at 579 nm while the emission spectrum has the maximum at 599 nm. At 575 and 525 nm wavelengths, CMXROS shows appreciable absorption; however, there is no emission at 525 nm. Similarly, at 375 nm, CMXROS has only an absorption peak and no emission. At 450 nm, CMXROS has no absorption or emission peak. Only at 650 nm, CMXROSshows an emission peak, but there is no absorption of light at this wavelength. Therefore, the correct answer is (a) 650 nm.

    1. Fill out the following table by indicating which general technique (light microscopy (LM) or electron microscopy (EM]) could be used to observe each structure or phenomenon. Put "no" in the box if the technique could not be used. If light microscopy can be used, name one technique (bright-field, phase-contrast, fluorescence, etc.) that you think would be effective. You will find some useful information in Appendix 1 of this manual and Chapter 18 of your textbook. Structure or phenomenon Could...
