Identify and describe one best practice for a performance evaluation system*. Ideally, this should be a practice you have personally witnessed or experienced, so that you can provide an example to illustrate your best practice. Why does the item you identified represent a best practice?
One best practice for a performance evaluation system is -
Reviewing employee performance on a daily/weekly process.
According to this system, there will be No more ratings/rankings for employee performance. Every time the expectations are clearly explained to the employees and they get regular feedback (positive and negative) from their managers.
Example - Suppose an employee work on a big project and his/her performance is analyzed once/twice in a month. Then he/she try to give the best performance before the performance checking date and it makes the work slower.
But if that employee is checked on a regular basis then he/she will be always alert and do the work properly every day. As a result, the work will be completed in the deadline.
The reason - 1> The system is fair for everyone. There is no extra tool required to consider a high or low performer.
2> The manager can find out details about good/bad employee performance trends and make more investment on/put an end to them early on.
3> Employees will work as a team and they will not try to compete with each other.
4> The manager will get a better understanding of what’s going among all employees.
For these reasons, I identify that practice is the best.
