Answer #1

Class Width = (Max - Min)/No. of classes = (64 - 6)/5 = 11.6

Frequency Table is as follows:

Hours Worked (Class Width) Midpoint Frequency Relative Frequency Cumulative Frequency
6-17.6 8.8 6 0.182 0.182
17.6-29.2 23.4 10 0.303 0.485
29.2-40.8 35 12 0.364 0.848
40.8-52.4 46.6 3 0.091 0.939
52.4-64 58.2 2 0.061 1.000

Where Hours Worked range is defined using the class width calculated above, Frequency is the no. of data points in the particular class, and Relative Frequency is the fraction of data points in a particular class. Cumulative Frequency is the nothing but the running sum of the relative frequencies (total frequency of all classes upto and including this class)

The histogram using the midpoints and the frequency can be charted out in Excel (Select the data -> Insert Column or Bar Chart -> Clustered Bar, then just right click on the bars -> Format Data Series -> Set Gap Width to 0).

Histogram - Hours Worked (Midpoint) 58.2 46.6 3 35 I 23.4 8.8 4 10 12 Frequency
