Abstract

The company Brand Finance has conducted a research study on identifying the top 500 globally branded companies. The study adopted a descriptive and analytical research methodology. For the purpose of the research, the company have used variables such as; brand audit, brand equity, stakeholder behaviour, business performance, brand strength index, brand royalty rate, brand revenue and brand value. According to the analysis made; google, apple, Amazon, AT&T, Microsoft, Samsung, Verizon, Walmart, Facebook and ICBC are top 10 global brands. [Para-1]

Analysis & Interpretation

According to the analysis based on the brand value of the top 5 branded companies:

• Google is holding the highest brand value and it is indicating an upward trend i.e. it's brand value is increasing year on year.
• Apple which has the second largest brand value is indicating downward trends since 2016.
• Amazon is holding third highest brand value and it is indicating an upward trend i.e. it's brand value is increasing year on year.
• AT&T is holding fourth highest brand value and it is indicating an upward trend i.e. it's brand value is increasing year on year.
• Microsoft is holding the fifth highest brand value and it is indicating an upward trend i.e. it's brand value is increasing year on year. [Para-2]

According to the analysis based on the brand value of the top 5 business sectors:

Over the period of 10 years i.e. 2008 – 2017:

Technological sector is indicating the highest growth rate in brand value creation followed by the banking sector, the telecom sector, retail sector and automobile sector. [Para-3]

According to the analysis made on the brand value rate of change in percentage:

• Google brand value has got increased by 24% since 2016.
• Apple brand value has got decreased by 27% since 2016.
• Amazon brand value has got increased by 53% since 2016.

Findings and suggestions

From the above analysis, it is suggested to give preference to Amazon followed by Google and AT&T. Because, the technological sector is gaining high brand value compared other sectors, like Amazon and Google being in technological sector indicating a considerable upward trend in brand value and a significant increase in brand value comparing to past year i.e. 2016, it is better to invest in such companies. Further comparing to Apples and Microsoft, AT&T is holding considerable brand value also it's brand value has got significant increment over the last year furthermore, it belongs to the third most important sector.
