Among the forty person Assume that 20 persons watched first two seasons of the office and 20 watched first two seasons of How i met my mother. n_1=n_2=20

pooled standard deviation is 9

There fore the standard error , S.E=S.D_p\sqrt{\frac{1}{n_1}+\frac{1}{n_2}}=9\sqrt{\frac{1}{20}+\frac{1}{20}}=2.846

Test statistic =Cohen's d/S.E=0.3/2.846=0105

The p value corresponds to this test statistic for 40-2=38 degress of freedom is 0.9169>0.10(Significance level or type I error rate) . There is no evidence to believe that one show is preffered to other. Hence we fail to reject the null hypothesis at 10% type i error rate.
