Answer #1

Discrimination in the workplace or professional area is based on a number of characteristics like gender, race, sexuality, religion, caste, etc. An employee is generally mistreated under these discriminations in the workplace and this is an unlawful act.

There are broadly two major types of discrimination in the workplace – direct and indirect.

When an employee is treated unfavorably or paid less than others for no good reason in spite of the fact that he/she has good qualifications to do the job then it is direct discrimination.

When an employee is put on a certain disadvantage with some rules and regulations is known as Indirect discrimination. For example – working on Sunday.

If someone is treated unfavorably under age, disability, gender reassignment, sex, sexual orientation, religion or belief, race, marriage or partnership, and pregnancy then they can file a complaint against under the equality act 2010.
