WSU is concerned about more traffic in the campus which has some
negative effects such as the increased probability of accidents,
damage and road maintenance cost. In such a scenario, the
authorities want to encourage other options which are more
efficient such as carpooling or walking to the campus.
Now, WSU can make an ascending priority in which walking is most
preferred followed by cycling and then carpooling.
WSU does not have control on fuel prices which could be raised but
WSU has control on parking space in its premises.
So WSU can raise parking fees to a very high level and according to
the hourly basis which will disincentivize people to drive the car.
WSu can also create a reward program which could be encashed based
on how many days that person came by walking or by cycling.
Although this is a good initiative this is not a perfect
solution. Some people might be living far from the WSU and they
might not be able to come by walking or cycling. The time required
for biking or cycling could be quite high in that case.
Another problem is with carpooling which requires timing adjustment
and a higher level of coordination. This can also prove to be a
time consuming and may result in loss of human hours.
Let's consider that WSU administration are worried about the amount of daily traffic occurring on campus. Increased...
