ANSWER.

16) Calculation of IV flow rate.

       Flow rate(ml/hr) = Volume(ml) / Time(hr).

Calculation of volume(ml)

Volume(ml) = Desired dose / Dose in hand * Quantity.

    Here

        Ordered dose = 0.3 mcg/kg/min.

Weight of the patient = 220 lb.

Convert lb to kg for calculation

                 1 lb = 0.454 kg

       So

          Weight of the patient = 220 * 0.454

                                            = 99.9 kg.

              Desired dose (D) for this patient = 0.3 * 99.9

                                                                   = 29.9 mcg/min.

                               Dose in hand (H) = 50 mg

Convert 50 mg to mcg for calculation

                                 1 mg = 1000 mcg

                      So

                             Dose in hand (H) = 50 * 1000

                                                          = 50000 mcg.

                                  Quantity (Q) = 250 ml

                 As per above formula

                         Volume(ml) = D/H * Q

                                             = 29.9 / 50000 * 250

                                             = 0.0006 * 250

                                             = 0.15 ml/min

Convert ml/min to ml/hr by multiply with 60

                          Flow rate (ml/hr) = 0.15 * 60

                                                     C = 9 ml/hr.

17) Calculation of flow rate.

          Flow rate = Volume(ml) / Time(hr).

              Calculation of volume

Volume(ml) = Desired dose / Dose in hand * Quantity.

          Here

              Ordered dose = 60 mcg/kg/min.

Weight of the patient = 66 kg

            So

                 Desired dose(D) for this patient = 60 * 66

                                                                     = 3960 mcg.

                         Dose in hand (H) = 5 gm

Convert gm to mcg for calculation

                               1 gm = 1000000 mcg.

                   So

                        Dose in hand (H) = 5000000 mcg.

                              Quantity (Q) = 500 ml.

         As per above formula

                   Volume(ml) = D/H * Q

                                       = 3960/5000000 * 500

                                       = 0.0008 * 500

                                       = 0.4 ml/min.

Convert ml/min to ml/hr by multiply with 60

                 Flow rate (ml/hr) = 0.4 * 60

                                               d = 24 ml/hr.
