Answer #1

Partial molar volume is defined as change in volume when 1 mole of a solute is added to the solvent( or mixture).

In this case, 168 mL of ethanol is added

AS, density =Mass/Volume

So, mass of ethanol added = density of ethanol * Volume of ethanol added

= 0.789g/mL * 168mL

= 132.552 g

So, moles of ethanol added = Mass added/ molar weight of ethanol

= 132.552g/ 46g/mol

=2.88 moles

So partial molar volume = 153mL/2.88mol

=53.1 mL/mol (Answer)
