Imagine you work in the medical field. You have several patients with similar diseases. Your team decides to test out three different medical treatments on the patients; one treatment plan for each patient. Data is collected on the patients as they go through and complete their treatments. One piece of data is the length of time it took to cure the patients. Why can we not assume that the treatment which took the least amount of time to work (cure the patient) is the best treatment among the three?

What type of test can be used to see if the mean times for curing the patients are significantly different?

Answer #1

Here we use ONE WAY ANOVA to see if the mean times for curing the patients are significantly different or not.

one way ANOVA will tell you that at least two groups were different from each other. But it won’t tell you what groups were different.

To find our which treatment look least amount of time we hse lost joc test.

If your test returns a significant f-statistic, you may need to run an ad hoc test (like the Least Significant Difference test) to tell you exactly which groups had a difference in means.

Is injecting medical cement effective in reducing pain for people who have suffered fractured vertebrae? A paper describes an experiment to compare patients who underwent vertebroplasty (the injection of cement) to patients in a placebo group who underwent a fake procedure in which no cement was actually injected. Because the placebo procedure was similar to the vertebroplasty procedure except for the actual injection of cement, patients participating in the experiment were not aware of which treatment they received.
