Answer #1

Answer: A barium swallow is a test mainly for the determining the cause of painful swallowing, difficulty with swallowing, abdominal pain, bloodstained vomit, or unexplained weight loss. Barium swallowing test may cause constipation sometimes.

Both the examination can not be done at the same time, so the ultrasound has to be done after the gap of 6-7 hours, when the patient's stomach get empty and he can drink water. Because it causes the gallbladder to contract, or get smaller.
