Acids and bases are classified as strong or weak according to their degree of dissociation when dissolved in water. A weak acid/base will dissociate only partially while a strong acid/base will dissociate completely Relate this stateement to your results and indicate weather each of the following is a weak acid, a strong acid, a weak base or a strong base. Answer #1

1)  Strong electrolytes are the one's having more number of free ions means which are good conductor of electricity or whose conductivity is more. ex- HCl is strongest electrolyte.Weak electrolyte are the one's having less number of free ions means which are bad conductor of electricity or whose conductivity is less. ex- distilled water or NH3 is week electrolyte.

2)   More the concentration means more conductivity value.

a)HCl (concentration=0.10 M) conductivity = 52.19

b) HCl (concentration= 0.05 M) conductivity = 19.13

So it's clear from above data that concentration in (a) is more and conductivity is also more.

3) More the ion mobility, more the conductivity because ion mobility means flow of ions in solution which is responsible for conductivity.

4) Typically tap water contains Na, K, Ca, Mg, Cl ionsand any number of other ionic species floating on it means more number of ions in tap water that's why tap water conductivity is more then distilled water.

What would be the purpose of this lab based on the following information? Colligative Properties II Colligative Property is a property of a solution that depends only on the number of solute molecule present. Osmotic pressure, freezing point depression, boiling point elevation, and vapor pressure lowering are all colligative properties. In today’s lab we will look at three of these properties. Electrolytes are substances that forms ions in solution that conduct electricity. Electrolytes can either be an acid, base or...
