Burnout and satisfaction with work life balance among US physicians relative to the general US population: to known this issue a national study of burnout among physicians was conducted among a large sample of US physicians this study has included representation across all the specialty disclines and also surveyed a probability based sample of the general US population for comaprision with physicains , the method used in this study is participants in this physician sample is taken from all the speciality disciplines was taken from the medical association physician masterfile this includes almost complete record of all US physicians, independent of american medical association memebership, this data is used to estimate the size of the physiican workforce and for verifying physician credentails , to get adequate sample of physician from each speciality oversampling is done in the fields of family medicine , general pediatrics, general internal medicine and obstetrics/gynecology, and the invitation to the survey for the physisican is send through the mail and the paricipation is voluntary and the response were anonymous, and the population control sample is taken from the individuals from the general US population aged 22 to 65 years with oversampling of those younger than 34 years and the survey was conducted probaility based panel,B) Study measures : the physician and population control sample provided information on demographic ( age, sex, relationship, status )and on burnout , hours worked per week, symptoms of depression, satisfaction with work life balance, and sucicidal ideation in the past 12 months and the physiican professional characteristics were estimated by asking question about they practice and for population control the question were asked about occupation, current employment status and highest level of education completed, and then theC) statistical analysis is done by using the standard descrptive summary statistics and kruskal wallis test, and multivariate and pooled multivariate logistic regression analysis of physician , and the analysis is performed using statistical software,D)results it shows that the prevalnce of the burnout among the US physicians is at the alarming level and the physicians inspecialities are at the front line of the care access are at greatest risk, this study shows that many physiican experience professional burnout which is characterized by the loss of enthusiasm for work , feeling of synicism and a low sense of personal accomplishment , the burnout also has adverse personal consequences for physician like broken realtionship, problematic alcohol use and sucidial ideation.
