Answeris C. Any linear relationship is a trend in the data that can be modeled by a straight line. Correlation is implemented to describe the linear relationship between two continuous variables (e.g., height and weight). In general, correlation tends to be implemented when there is no identified response variable. Correlation measures the strength (qualitatively) and direction of the linear relationship between two or more variables.

Now if association is linear or positive or negative correlation it's correlation value states it's strength. But if association is non linear although it is having a relationship it's not stated by the measure of correlation. Either it is to be plotted or it has to be converted to linear to predict relationship using correlation

In a mathematical relationship does not necessarily mean that there is correlation. For example, consider the equation y=3×3. In statistical terms, it is inappropriate to say there is correlation between x and y. This is so because, although there is a relationship, relationship is not linear over this range of the specified values of x. It is possible to predict y exactly for each value of x in given range, but correlation is neither −1 nor +1. Hence, it would be inconsistent with the definition of correlation and it cannot therefore be said that x is correlated with y and so correlation
