Answer #1

Molality m = 3.21m

Boiling point elevation constant for benzene Kb = 2.53oC/m

Boiling point elevation ΔTb = Kb x m

= 2.53 x 3.21 = 8.1oC

Boiling point of solution = boiling point of benzene + ΔTb

= 80.1 + 8.1 = 88.2 oC

Freezing point depression constant for benzene Kf = 5.12oC/m

Freezing point depression ΔTf = Kf x m

= 5.12 x 3.21 = 16.4oC

Freezing point of solution = freezing point of benzene - ΔTf

= 5.5 - 16.4 = -10.9 oC
