A team of researchers are interested in determining if the use of hormone replacement therapy caused colon cancer in postmenopausal women. The team identifies a group of women with colon cancer and another group of women without colon cancer as subjects.

Trained interviewer used structured questionnaire in interview schedule to collect information on demographic factors, anthropometric factor s , physical activity , reproductive and menstrual history , NSAIDS use , Oral contraceptive use , history of colon cancer in the parents or siblings and history of colonoscopy , Sigmoidoscopy , rectal examination or fecal occult blood test .Information on diet also should be taken.

For each episode of use of HRT , the month and year started , the duration and the drug name all should be recorded.
