Transparency International -“Fighting corruption through knowledge””
Transparency International is a non-governmental organization based out of Berlin, Germany. 25 years in its existence the company’s motto is “global coalition against corruption”.
From what I have observed is that the company fights corruption through knowledge. It has databases of countries, it publishes studies and reports to educate the society and create a benchmark for the economies. A company like this keeps the checks and balances in place.
They came up with the corruption perception index in 1995 which is researched and published every year. It is widely regarded as the guideline of corruption vis a vis other country and shows a real picture of the country. This Index makes headlines and is carried in many publications and newspapers that impacts the reputation of the countries. Many businesses rely on these indexes to assess the foreign country and impacts the development of the countries as well. It provides a source for an economy to ponder over the level of corruption and transparency.
Recently, through information they were able to save more than US$2 billion in the Czech Republic alone. They have created OECD anti bribery convention which is now partnered with 41 countries.
Transparency international is creating impact through its idea of looking at the corruption from different angles.
The mission of Transparency International is to “create change toward a world free of corruption.” Comment...
