What data would you need to gather to address your research questions listed above ?

Data of the smokers that needs to be collected are: Age of the Patient, Sex of the Patient, Profession and Education status, Years of smoking, Number of cigarette smoked per day (To calculate smoking Index), Type of tobacco consumed (cigarette, e-cigarette, pipes etc), Any other smoker the person is exposed do, Any smokers in the family, Any strategies that person has planned to quit smoking, Method of quitting - whether prescription medication, behavioral support, over the counter medicine, Any Other (they have to mention), Is the person suffering from any other communicable or Non communicable disease, Involvement of family members in helping them reduce smoking

Data of the Physician: His age, experience, Prevalence of smoking in the area, how many smokers he has treated, Number of relapses, Type of smoking control strategy, Any other diseases the person has

Primary health care physicians are the source of data

The Local physicians of area of study has to be involved in the study

Prospective Cohort survey: Directly with the participants and their family members using questionnaire

Advantage - Can be done online without directly contacting the participant, Follow up is possible

Disadvantage - Problems with consent of the smoker and correctness of the answers

Prospective Cohort survey

Advantage: Large number off population can be examined

Disadvantage: Expensive and time consuming

Prospective Cohort study since we can study large population and studied in their natural environment along with family members
