Case study 3-1 Airborne precautions:

1. The phlebotomist has to wear personal protective equipment before entering the patient's room. Airborne infection is transmitted through respiratory droplets.n95 respirator mask has to be worn to prevent the transmission of airborne infection. Other than this he should also wear gloves and gowns to protect himself from blood spillage.

2. No need for special handling of specimens because the infectious agent will not spread through the blood.

3. Measles, varicella, Severe respiratory distress syndrome are some of the diseases that require airborne precautions.

4. Diphtheria and pertussis.
