Question

Here is a data set of 10 points: 0.8027511 0.2906764 0.5842545 3.2468615 1.6663418 1.8317143 1.5108914 0.3690507 0.4350530 1.1398507 What is the mean, variance, and standard deviation of the sample? Include confidence limits with your estimates. Does the data fit a normal distribution? Does the data fit an exponential distribution? To determine if the data fits a given distribution, I would suggest a plot.

The sample size is n 10. The provided sample data along with the data required to compute the sample mean X and sample variance s are shown in the table below: x2 0.64440932855121 0.08449276951696 0.8027511 0.2906764 0.5842545 3.2468615 1.6663418 1.8317143 1.5108914 0.3690507 0.4350530 1.1398507 11.877 0.34135332077025 10.542109600182 2.7766949944272 3.3551772768245 2.282792822594 0.13619841917049 0.189271112809 1.2992596182905 21.652 SumThe sample mean X is computed as follows: 187 1.188 X= -_ 1.188 10 i- ー1 Also, the sample variance s is ー10 ( 21.652-11, 8772 10 ) 0.838 i=1 Therefore, the sample sandartd deviation s is s = V82-V0.838 0.916

using Shapiro-Wilk normality test

shapiro.test tests the NULL hypothesis that the samples came from a Normal distribution. This means that if your p-value <= 0.05, then you would reject the NULL hypothesis that the samples came from a Normal distribution

after calculation we get

W = 0.87438,

p-value = 0.1124

so we accept the null hypothesis the data come from exponential distribution
