Quick note:

water is polar, will be miscible with polar substances

carbon tetrachloride is nonpolar, will be miscible with non-polar substances

CaCl2--> water is a good solvent

Br2 --> CCl4 is a better solvent, addition of water will make HBr acid

C6H14 --> CCl4 since this is very nonpolar

CH3OH --> water, due to the Hydrogen bonding and polarity
