From the given information we want to find 90% confidence interval for population mean ( mu ).

Using minitab:

Step 1) Click on Stat>>>Basic Statistics >>1 sample t...

Select summarized data

Sample size: 41

Mean: 3.0

Standard deviation: 5.4

Step 2) Click on Option

Confidence level = 90

Alternative: Not equal

Then click on OK

Again Click on OK

Then we get the following output

From the above output the 90% confidence interval for mu is 1.580 to 4.420
