1.NO,the poles of big magnet is does not change.

EXPLANATION:

because we can assume magnet as the collection of small magnetic domain having north and south poles.so,even if magnet is separated the pole will not going to change.

but magnetic pole strength will decrease.

For magnets both poles are try to attract by inducing opposite pole on the metal surface,but the pole closer to the metal is able to induce more magnetic character .so, attractive force due to is more strong as the distance is also less as compared to the other pole
