Answer #1

Using component form of a vector

See that 7 m represents a vector whose angle with horizontal is 30 deg

Now Horizontal component of this vector will give horizontal distance traveled by boy

S = 7 m at 30 deg below horizontal line

Sx = 7*cos 30 deg = 6.06 m = distance traveled horizontally (Answer of part B)

Now Vertical component of this vector will give depth of boy

Sy = 7*sin 30 deg = 3.5 m = distance traveled Vertically = depth of boy (Ans of part A)

Please Upvote.

See that 1st answer is of part B and 2nd answer is of part A

    You are camping at the top of a mountain (altitude=700 m). Returning from the lake (altitude=500 m), your son (mass=30 kg) takes the direct path, climbing at an angle of 60 degrees relative to the horizontal, while his friend (also mass=30 kg) takes the more gradual switchback which has an angle of 30 degrees.
