As people age, do they tend to have more satisfaction with their lives? Or, do age and life satisfaction coincide? And if so, in what associative pattern? Write results in APA Format
N= 64 coming from two classes.
• Classification was freshmen-seniors.
• Age ranged from 18 to 43. SWLS scores could be 5 to 35 with 35 having the highest degree of life satisfaction.
• The mean age was 21.92 (S.D. = 5.56) and mean SWLS = 23.84 (S.D.= 5.16).
Results
The correlation coefficients were: for age with SWLS, r(64)= –.112, p=.377 and for classification with SWLS, r(63)= –.140, p=.273. The scatter plots revealed no curvilinear relationships.
The results in the APA format can be written as given below:
64 freshmen and senior students aged 18 to 43 years (M = 21.92, SD = 5.56), were surveyed about life satisfaction using SWLS scores (M = 23.84, SD = 5.16). SWLS scores ranged from 5 to 35, where a score of 35 means the highest degree of life satisfaction. The results of the correlation analysis to study the association between age and life satisfaction show a weak negative correlation as r(64) = -.112, p = .377. To study the association between classification and SWLS, the coefficient of correlation was found to be r(63) = -.140, p = .273 which again shows a weak negative correlation. The scatter plots also revealed that there is no significant correlation between age or classification of students and their life satisfaction.
Note: In APA format, the letters used to represent measures are italicized. There should be a space before and after the '=' sign. Since r and p-value can never be greater than 1, no zero is put before the decimal.
