initial distance , di = 0.170 m

final distance , df = sqrt(0.28^2 + 0.29^2)

df = 0.403 m

Initial potential energy , Ui =k*q1*q2/di

Ui = 9*10^9 * 4 *10^-6 * (-4.60 *10^-6)/0.170

Ui = -0.974 J

final potential energy , Uf = k*q1*q2/df

Uf = 9*10^9 * 4 *10^-6 * (-4.60 *10^-6)/0.403

Uf = -0.411 J

work done by the electric field = -change in potential energy

work done by the electric field = 0.974 - 0.411

work done by the electric field = 0.563 J

the work done by the electric field is 0.563 J
