Dalmar received $750 return of capital in 2017. And $500 return on capital in 2018. He should show $500 return on capital in 2018 Tax return.

Since $500 is received in 2018 which is over and above the investment value. Since there is no earnings of MRO in 2018 therefore the increase in amount of investment value of Dalmar is because of capital gain.
