A 60-year-old man was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus. During a visit to the patient’s home, the home care nurse sees the patient eating a large, unhealthy breakfast. When asked about his eating habits, the patient says that he is not very good about keeping his records up to date and that he is just happy that he will never have to give himself insulin shots. What type of patient teaching should be done here, and how could the nurse encourage patient compliance?

Patient should give health education about the type 2 diabetes mellitus, what is the causes, risk factors, diagnosis, treatments, diet plan, exercise and yoga.

Nurse should clear all doubt of the patients because he feel anxiety and depression toward this conditions, tell them that diabetes can control or treat.

Nurse should teach them about for diagnosis test of diabetes, HBA1C, blood sugar (fasting, random),eye test, kidney test etc.

She should teach about medicines which are using in this disease, what role of it, regular follow up with diabetic specialist.

Nurse should should teach about diet plan , prevent from sugar diet, helps the patient for preparing diet plan for this disease condition.

Nurse should give information about benefits of regular walking, exercise and how they help to control it.
